Year 6

Welcome to the year 6 page!

We hope you enjoyed your Easter break and spending time with your children doing lots of exciting things. Amazingly, we are now two-thirds of the way through the year but lots more interesting things are still to happen. Summer Term brings SATs, but also camp and our end-of-year production; so much to look forward to. We welcome Mr Hassall to our teaching team – someone who is well known to many of the children and he is really looking forward to working with us all in the lead-up to SATs. We will also be welcoming Mrs Gawen to the team later in the term.

Keep checking this page for the latest homework and key events happening in year 6.

Year 6 Football

On Monday 9th October our Year 6 boys participated in the Sedgemoor District Area Football Competition. In their first match they played a strong Hamp team where the result of a 2-1 defeat did not reflect how well the boys played. One of the boys scored an excellent team goal and was very unlucky not to add to his tally. Another led the team brilliantly as captain throughout with powerful runs and making quick passes to start counter attacks. One of the boys made notable saves and distributed the ball well as he looked like an established goalkeeper. In the second game the team beat St Joseph's Bridgwater 1-0 with some remarkable saves from the opposition keeper with some brilliant defending. One of the boys also scored an unstoppable 30 yard strike which finally beat the resilient St Joseph's keeper.  A massive thank you to parents for supporting the event and also to the boys who participated as they were a credit to the school!

Welcome to year 6!

We hope you are well rested after the summer break and are looking forward to life at St. Andrew’s. We are excited about the year ahead and getting to know your children. The aim of the next few weeks is to settle the children into the new routines and to ensure that they are happy and comfortable in their new surroundings. We believe that if children are happy, they will be able to achieve their full potential.

On this page you will get the latest homework, year group newsletter, useful webpages and exciting work or achievements in year 6. We want to celebrate our pupils academic and non-academic achievements.
