We would like to thank all the students for their hard work this year. There have been some great achievements. Many have embraced Accelerated Reader, which we started in September. There has been a lot of great writing and some very impressive mathematical thinking and problem solving.
Thank you to all our house captains, librarians, playground leaders and arts council members. Lots of students have taken an active role in the life of the school.
At this unprecedented and difficult time, we will be using our webpage to update you on a few things. Our scheduled topic has a geographic theme and looks at similarities and differences between coastal tourist towns in contrasting parts of the world, such as Burnham-on-Sea and Rio de Janeiro. The topic explores how tourism affects the economy and history of these locations and will investigate physical and human features. The Knowledge Organiser can be found on the page, including an extensive list of vocabulary.
The Year 6 team would like to thank you all for your support of us and your children this year. We know that this is a different and difficult time for the children and we will try to keep you up-to-date with further information when we have it.
Year 6 thoroughly enjoyed a code-breaking activity using Arabic numbers today to introduce our new area of learning. The activity was designed to reveal our next topic for the spring term by cracking a code written by Mr H.
All of the children participated in this activity and the teamwork, communication and listening skills shown by the children were fantastic. Here are just a selection of some of the photos we took today.
